Backflow
Prevention in the
Aquasource System
Important
Features of the Aquasource System:
- The
system returns to mains water should the electrical power supply
be interrupted.
- Mains
water is not pumped.
- Rainwater
is always used when available.
- Mains
water does not top up the tank, in fact
a non-return valve is fitted to stop this event. The maximum space
in the tank is available to harvest the next rainfall at all times.
Backflow
Prevention
- The
Aquasource control
unit is factory fitted with a dual check valve
manufactured, approved and branded to AS2845-1 supplied by RMC
Ltd.
- The
flow switch is directional and will only start
the pump when flow is required from the outlet of Aquasource
feeding the house.
-
Rainwater will not drain from the tank, it can
only be pumped.
- The
system will not operate unless mains water pressure is
present.
- A
mains water pressure reduction control valve is also fitted.

The
above system ensures that should mains pressure fall (backflow-suction)
- the
pump will not start
- nor can the tank be drained.
This
operation does not depend on electrical valves or the requirement
of electrical supply to give this protection.
The
Aquasource system
complies with AS3500-1. Selection of correct backflow
prevention in accordance with hazard rating given in clause 4.3
and table E3 (page 87 of the standard). In addition extra level
of prevention is given by the flow directional valve and no flow
devices.
The
technology is fully automatic providing a reliable water source
from a rainwater system.
Aquasource
a joint development between Silvan
H2O Management and Davey
Pumps has a patent pending.
Each
unit is fully tested by Davey
under their ISO9001 systems before dispatch from
the factory.
The
Aquasource unit has received Standards Australia's Watermark
Certification (License No. IPC20009).
