Green Loan Program
Want
To Reduce Your Power & Water Bills?
In
2009 the Australian Federal Government announced the introduction
of a new Green Loans program. The program was designed to give householders
access to a nationally accredited Home Sustainability Assessment
free of charge and to provide a comprehensive report on the house
to help to reduce their energy and water bills, increase the comfort
of their home and help reduce damaging carbon pollution.
A pone
the home owner receiving the formal report from the department home
owners are then able to gain access to a $10,000
4 year interest free loan through approved Financial institutions.
The
Government have allowed for up to 960,000 Homes to be put through
the program.

The Minister
announced on 19 February 2010 that the less popular loans component
of the program will be discontinued next month. Loans will be discontinued
from 22 March 2010. Note that eligibility for loans under the Green
Loans program is determined by financial institutions subject to
the lending criteria of the financial institution being satisfied.
