Demountable
Office Technolgy (DOT) is an Australian company
which has designed an excellent demountable modular office partitioning
system. The panels are prepared off-site, and can be erected very
quickly onsite. The intelligent design means that when it comes
time to move, the partitioning can be pulled down with a minimum
of fuss and damage to the site, and reused at the next location.
That in itself is environmentall friendly, but DOT has many more
than one such feature...

Design For Dematerialisation: Because it is designed
to be fitted over carpet, there is no requirement for patch repairs
when walls are moved. Likewise the interference with adjoining
finishes is minimal. This together with the systemised approach
to manufacture and installation, take back and re-use options
means the de-materialisation that results from this system is
significant.

Low VOC: The standard dot system arrives on-site,
ready to install, pre-finished in either low VOC screen fabric
or a low VOC, Good Environmental Choice Labeled paint (DOT uses
Wattyl i.d ultra-low VOC paints as standard finish). DOT uses
Alpine E0 MDF as their standard board for wall facings. For Buildings
seeking a Green Star rating all paints and wood panels used are
required to be ‘low or zero’ VOC emission.

Recyclability: The system is designed for easy
re-use and all major parts of the system can be recycled numerous
times before end-of-life recycling takes place. 100% of factory
waste is recycled.

Materials are recyclable and/or reusable. Individual
wall panels can be colour changed or replaced as necessary in
minutes. Erection/dismantling of walling achieved in hours, with
virtually no makegood required

Componentry that would normally have high embodied
energy (aluminium & polyester) has significant recycled content
so has much lower embodied energy content than comparable systems

Substantial Life Cycle Cost savings compared
to traditional plasterboard partitioning can be experienced if
the interchangeability options are utilised and systems used and
re-used
- Soundproof
tested by the CSIRO and have been issued a minimum STC
rating 38. DOT walls are soundproofed by filling the hollow panels
the same way as traditional walling systems. Click here to see
