Solar Industry Has a Sunny Future With Feed-In Tariff-
Under the new Feed-in Tariff, customers will be paid almosr 60c per KW-hour. In Canberra, a typical 1000 watt (one kilowatt) system will produce around 5 KW hours per day, or around 1800 KW hours per year. At 60c, that is around $1100 a year. If a customer qualifies for the Federal Government's Solar PV Rebate, the can have a top-quality 1 Kw system installed for under $6000. According to John Payne, "That equates to a guaranteed tax-free return of over 18%. Even if they don't qualify for the PVRP $8000 rebate, they'd stll enjoy a guaranteed, tax-free return of over 7%." While some businesses installing solar panels have been talking doom and gloom since a Federal Budget decision to introduce a means test, Enviro Friendly Products has been going from strebgth to strength. "While the means test introduction hurt a numeber of our customers, and cost us over $100,000 in cancelled orders the following day, our sales have continued to grow.
