A
Letter To Our Customers Waiting On Water Tank Deliveries
Hello,
I'm John Payne, Chairman of Enviro Friendly Products.
The
last six months have seen unprecedented demand for water tanks and
other water storage and reuse products. We are proud of the Suppliers
we deal with, and the level of service they normally provide.
Unfortunately,
these are not normal times. The industry is strained almost to breaking
point. The sheer volume of orders is causing many problems...
-
as Suppliers have dealt with a flood of orders, information systems
have lagged behind
- delivery
times quoted by Supplers, and passed on by us, have almost invariably
slipped
- production
facilities have strained to keep up, some factories are working
3 shifts
- delivery
facilities have strained to keep up
- suppliers'
staff (and ours!) are not only handling more sales enquiries,
they're now handling many enquiries for "Where is my tank."
- raw
materials are in short supply, and even major companies are looking
at the supplies being rationed
The
problems being experienced are not limited to our business, to our
suppliers, or to any one State. The whole industry has been swamped
as a result of numerous factors...
- Generous
government rebates in Queensland have created huge demand. In
Brisbane, you were able to buy a 5000 litre tank, have it delivered,
have it installed and buy a pump, and get almost every cent back
in rebates. Virtually free water tanks have dramatically increased
sales
- The
current Brisbane City Council rebates ended on June 30th, and
this has led to another wave of demand
- water
tank rebates in a number of States are being increased
- the
fact that we have experienced the worst drought in living memory
is making more people than ever buy water tanks
- government
building regulations in many jurisdictions now mandate water tanks
for all new homes, greatly increasing demand
- the
media has finally 'come around', and is now talking continually
about global warming and climate change. It's hard to get through
a news bulletin without an item about water shortages, low dam
levels or new water restrictions
- In
almost every State, there are plans to introduce even more extreme
water restictions
We
deal with 12 different water tank factories, operated by 6 different
Manufacturers, who are
- Tankmasta-
part of a A$5 Billion a year turnover plastics giant, Linpac
- Nylex
Water- a leading publicly-listed Australian company for generations
- Poly
Water Tanks- a well-established NSW Central Coast manufacturer
- Team
Poly- part of the iconic publicly-listed Hills Industries group
- Rainhaven-
a specialist supplier of quality slimline tanks
- Aquasource-
part of the respected Silvan Group
The
industry is experiencing unprecedented delays in production and
delivery. It's in everyon'es interest to get YOUR tank out as soon
as possible, but sometimes delays in production will mean that it
doesn't come as quickly as expected. Please bear with us!
We
ask for your understanding while the whole industry deals with this
problem. We understand your frustration, and if we had a magic wand,
we'd solve the problems forthwith! We can only apologise for delays,
and ask for your understanding. We ask that you not take out your
frustration on our staff, or on the manufacturers' staff- we are
all doing our best.
Some
factories can deliver more quickly than others. Some tank sizes
are quicker than others. Currently, rural-sized tanks are slowest,
and Victoria and Queensland experience the longest lead times. Lead
times on the tanks we handle vary from 3 weeks to 30 weeks! Let
us know your needs, and we'll do our best to match them.
Thank
you for entrusting your business to us.
Yours
sincerely,
John
Payne
