The
VW Golf Blue Motion : A Very Enviro Friendly Car
Why
are we interested in the new VW Golf Blue Motion?
Because it's the Enviro Friendly VW Golf Blue Motion!
Over
recent years, Enviro Friendly Products ran a small fleet of VW diesel
vehicles. This included a Transporter Ute, a Transporter Van, three
Jetta sedans, and a Golf.
All
of the vehicles performed well. All were very economical to run.The
sedans regularly got over 1000 kM on a tank, and my personal Jette
recorded consumption figures as low as 5.5 litres/100km. Needless
to say we not only appreciated the performance (the old Transporter
ute could leave most cars at the lights), we were particularly impressed
with the enviro-friendly, low carbon footprint of such economical
vehicles. The Golf was the best of them all. Now we see that there's
a new Golf on the block- the BlueMotion VW Golf..
The
Blue Motion Golf claims up to 1500 km, or 3.8l.
/100km from a tank of fuel- that's impressive! It also boasts a
number of advanced features...
Stop/Start
Technolgy. Every time you come to a standstill, the
engine turns off, saving fuel and emissions. All you need to
do to get going again is to touch the clutch!
Brake
Energy Recuperation System.
This system recovers some of the energy used in coasting and
braking, and uses it to recharge the battery.
Gear
Reccomendation. The Blue Motion Golf suggests which
gear you should be using to get the best fuel consumption. Optimised
Aerodynamics.
The Golf has taken every opportunity to reduce wind drag, lowering
resistance, and improving fuel efficiency.
Optimised
Rolling Resistance Wheels. The BlueMotion Golf
uses specially-designed, low rolling resistance tyres that cut
emissions and fuel consumption.
Optimised
Gear Ratios. The Golf features higher gear ratios that
reduce revs, and fuel consumption.
To
quote Top Gear's Review,
"It's
that smart look, along with the big efficiency figures, that helps
elevate this Golf above its obvious eco-rivals. It also achieves
better mpg than a Prius. "
